Car Accident Story

The accident was caused by an underage driver, who was speeding in the wrong lane.

"The kid was 13," says Officer Brown.

Only a few witnesses stuck around.

"I was walking my dog on the other side of the street and then I heard the crash," says Wendy Hillbert.

Roger Clementine's family did an interview on the 5:00 News the next day.

"To everyone put in danger we are sorry. Please pray for Mr.Jacob Jingleheimer-Smith," said Mrs.Clementine.

Roger's Studebaker was going 60 miles per hour, traveling west in the far eastbound lane of Slaughter Lane.

"I don't know speed limits yet. I just thought you could go the same speed off and on the freeway," Roger said.

The Yugo, driven by Mr.Jingleheimer-Smith, was going 10 miles per hour in the far eastbound lane of Slaughter heading east.

"I didn't know what was happening, he was driving like he always did," Melba said.

Police cited Clementine for driving without a license, for speeding and for driving in the wrong lane.

"There's gonna be problems when minors aren't driving in empty parking lots," said Officer Petey.

The Yugo was a total loss. It was in a head-on collision with Clementine's car.

"I don't think the car matters much to Jacob, I just hope he's okay," said Melba.

The weather was sunny. The road was not slick.

"There's nothing to blame the crash on, the weather was fine and the road was normal," Officer Brown explained with a sigh.

John Jacob Jingleheimer-Smith, 91, and his wife, Melba, 67, were taken to the hospital.

"Right after it happened they were rushed off," says biking witness Carl Clevins.

Mr.Jingleheimer-Smith had a head injury and was in serious condition as of press time this evening.

"We just feel horrible about his severe injuries," said Mr.Clementine.
