Spring Break 2016

For Spring Break this year I went to Irvine, California with my dad. Since he works up there, he plans his trips accordingly so we can both go. It's become a spring break tradition. In an effort to shock our family and shake things up, we tried a lot of new things.
To begin out trip, we left the familiar scene of Irvine suburbia and journeyed to Thousand Steps Beach, a secluded stairway of (you guessed it) a thousand steps. It leads to a stretch of beach said to be the most beautiful coast of California. The view was amazing! After walking down the beach, we came across a cave that the high tide was filling up with water. (Pictured below)
But nothing compared to the thousands steps back up the steep stairway. My calves still hurt.

The rest of the day was spent on Balboa Island. We took our car over on the ferry and walked around the island browsing shops. My dad and I ate lunch at the very end of the dock, where they had strategically placed a Ruby's.

Days 2 and 3 were spent at Laguna Beach and at various shopping centers. We took Fashion Island for a spin and had a blast. It was an unlikely shopping pair, but me and my dad actually shop better together than with anyone else. We continued our streak at another outdoor shopping center, the Irvine Spectrum. They has a ferris wheel with a perfect view of the small mountains and hills that the city is kind of in between.

Last current events quiz we read about how Apple was trying to determine whether they could or even should break an iPhone at the federal governments request. The story has not gone away. Read page A2 "FBI, Apple clash before Congress"

1. Do you think Apple should be forced to create a backdoor to information stored on iPhones?
No, I don't think Apple should be forced into this backdoor business because they are a company providing a product, not a "tool of government surveillance."
2. If someone took your phone, would you want anyone to access the information/data stored there? I wouldn't care if an impartial adult looked at the data because I don't think there is anything incriminating, but of course personal information being sifted through isn't  comfortable thought.
3. Should "national security" be reason enough for the FBI or similar agency to access this kind of information? For these particular people, yes. For everyday adults and teens, no. I think our government should get involved and gather information about these attacks, but it's not fair to change the structure and policies of a mass electronics company.
4. Do your parents censor your phone, meaning do they check your social media, etc?
No, they are huge advocates for "children being people too."
5. Do you think parents should be doing that for their children? BE HONEST
I know some nasty kids, but I wouldn't like it. I don't wish it on anyone else.
6. What age do you think children should be exposed to electronic devices like iPhones and iPads? WHY? I think kids should have some exposure to apps and games around 7 on a family iPad or computer. Phones should come later around 5th or 6th grade because that's around the time you go to middle school and start hanging out with friends more (without your parents always being there). I got a phone when I transferred to a school downtown and started gaining more independence, so I think that's around the right time.
