For Spring Break this year I went to Irvine, California with my dad. Since he works up there, he plans his trips accordingly so we can both go. It's become a spring break tradition. In an effort to shock our family and shake things up, we tried a lot of new things.
To begin out trip, we left the familiar scene of Irvine suburbia and journeyed to Thousand Steps Beach, a secluded stairway of (you guessed it) a thousand steps. It leads to a stretch of beach said to be the most beautiful coast of California. The view was amazing! After walking down the beach, we came across a cave that the high tide was filling up with water. (Pictured below)
But nothing compared to the thousands steps back up the steep stairway. My calves still hurt.
The rest of the day was spent on Balboa Island. We took our car over on the ferry and walked around the island browsing shops. My dad and I ate lunch at the very end of the dock, where they had strategically placed a Ruby's.
Days 2 and 3 were spent at Laguna Beach and at various shopping centers. We took Fashion Island for a spin and had a blast. It was an unlikely shopping pair, but me and my dad actually shop better together than with anyone else. We continued our streak at another outdoor shopping center, the Irvine Spectrum. They has a ferris wheel with a perfect view of the small mountains and hills that the city is kind of in between.
